Collaborative Teaching Project

This summer, three students from Georgia Tech went to Africa to teach, research and do community development with university students from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. Together, they conducted six weeks of training in digital media, engineering economics and entrepreneurship & ICTs for development and came up with interesting class projects for each.

They also set aside some time to conduct community research in a nearby periurban community to make sure our class projects would be beneficial to residents there. Projects included programming cell phones in Swahili, writing business plans for startup company ideas, and creating Flash animations to explain social interaction in slums.

All in all, our collaborative teaching program was very well received this year and we are looking forward to making next year’s program really exciting and searching for participants who’re looking for the same!
